Fall 2002 My Environment
Parking lot by a bar. The 'recycling' is all lined up.

Left: These 'pocket rock gardens' are quite common beside car parks and public buildings. The largest tree is a persimmon.

Right: Open gate to my front porch in Anam-dong.

My porch in Anam-dong. My porch. Directly ahead is the washing machine shed, with tomatoes ripening on top. That's the spot where I feed the Top Cat. To the right is the utility shed, housing the hot water heater-furnace and the bathroom for the upstairs tenants. Cho's school/office in Guro. 'It's around the back, just a half a mile from the railroad track.' Next door is the grocery store where I leave the key. This lady has some of the best 'pan chan' for sale.
The interior of Ali Baba's Restaurant in Itaewon. Run by an Egyptian and a Lebanese with their Korean wives. Ali Baba's This is where Jim got a big surprise when the Lebanese guy called him by name. This fellow looked so much like one of Jim's Lebanese high school classmates that Jim was really confused for a moment Streetside flower box in Hannam-dong.Beyond the flower-box and those ornate cast-iron street-light poles is the entrance #2 to Hangangjin Subway Station.
