My Creation

"You created me"
that is what I've been told
countless times my past and rage
come to haunt me unceasingly

how much pain and suffering
did I create and leave behind
for all the dead and their survivors
rising up with a new hate for me

I made them in my image
hard as steel and as cold as ice within
bloodthirsty replicas with no compassion
living only for vengeance upon the world

Cortese created me in that mold
with the death of my heart's twin
Caesar honed me into cold steel
with the blood spilt of my friend

and yet with the love of an enemy
I was shown the lighter road
and with the help of my closest love
I have learned forgiveness of others if not self

but still they come to destroy
not caring or staying their hand
all my children who hate and rage
created from the darkness of my soul
