Cinders

like fire spreading through a forest
your nearness sets me ablaze
my senses reel and I start to fall
your very self the cause of my ailment
your hand gently grasps my arm
to pull me closer to you and safety
never have I felt this emotion
as I set my cheek against your back
the smell of you is intoxicating
I can never get enough of you
do you have any idea
how you affect me body and soul
then you turn and look at me
and ask me if I'm all right
how do I say that I am dying
my very self needing you to survive
those eyes of water's blue depths
I could dive eternally into
your voice a low purr
that races up my spine sensually
never before have I felt this way
emotions soaring and flying so high
but without you to share them with
I shall die from the fall
and so my flame glows bright
threatening to burn me to cinders
with a touch, with a glance, with a word
my soul yearns for yours
