Love is a torture
my heart strains
running from the pain

I don't need this emotion
Eros has driven me into
the safe darkness of my soul

No kiss will bring
me from my security
I stay here most willingly

Stay your hand Cupid
your arrows of love's hurt
I will shatter in my fist

But if Love is a torture
then why do I feel
a sweetness in my mouth

My breath ripped from me
by the sight of eyes
so green and laughing

By the feel of smooth silk
from the lightest of caresses
on my cheek from another

the pain of Love
cruel and unyeilding as the sun
and as sweet as honey
