MUSIC

I prefer either classical (Vivaldi, Vanessa Mae, Yo Yo Ma...& some of the Russians) OR heavy metal (Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, AC/DC, Metallica).   They are both instrumental...one is just faster.  If I'm ill or homesick, old country (Hank Williams, Patsy Cline) or bluegrass (click on this note for my favorite cousin's band) Oh, my uncle won the world chamionahip bluegrass title in '72.  I always have music playing....unless of course I'm outdoors.
I've seen concerts in every type of venue and every type of music.  I began playing classical music at an early age but stopped when I left for college.  For now, I just enjoy having my soul stirred by other musicians.

LITERATURE

www.geocities.com/Paris/3954/haruki.html

My two favorite authors are Haruki Murakami and Gabriel Garcia Marquez.  Both are incredible smart, abstract, and witty.  They are masters of the literary maze.
In no specific order, but usually an enjoyable
AUTHORS, it was easier to list them rather than their books.  I've read anything by those below that is in English.

Gail Tsukiyama.....Japanese, but usually writes about Chinese Women
Aimee E. Liu.....wrote "Cloud Mountain".....moving story about an AM/WF  couple.
Maxine Hong Kingston.......I've read all of her work....not my favorite, but quirky.
Gus Lee.....  Neat background on the author...
Lillian Lee..........I've read all of her books that are in English...the last was "Last Princess of Manchuria".
