Quite the opposite, true Southern Iced Tea is sweet and very cold.  Boil Water...doesn't matter how! I use 2-3 bags of tea per pitcher or for @1/2 or 3/4 gallon.  Sugar is strictly to taste... mix well with tea while it's still hot.  Let the tea get quite dark.  After the sugar is dissolved, cool it down quickly with ice and tepid/cool water.
