First and second instar larva.
 

Male and female.






  • Distribution. Asiatic. India, Sri Lanka, Burma, China.
  • Ovum. Large, round and mottled with sandy-brown.
  • Foodplants. Polyphagous. Juglans regia, Liquidambar styraciflua, Malus, Salix, Betula, Pyrus, Prunus, Quercus, Q. ilex, Rhododendron. Sometimes larva eat Prunus larrocerasus.
  • Larva. Last instar larva is 8-9 cm. long. They are red with black point in the first-second instar and change in green in the third instar.
  • Cocoon. Round withe in colour.
  • Adults. Both sexes 13-15 cm.
