Larva. Second, first, and fifth instar.




  • Distribution. Pakistan, North India, China, Burma, Thailand Pinratana & Lampe (1990).
  • Ovum. The overwintering stage. Small and grey.
  • Foodplants. Polyphagous. Larva feed on Juglans regia, Quercus, Crataegus and perhaps many other deciduous trees. The best food is Juglans regia.
  • Larva. Older larvae are covered with long white-bluish setae in the dorval surface. They like airy conditions and warm.
  • Cocoon. Very beautiful to see. A open mesh type with an exit at one end. Spun-up amongst the foodplant.
  • Adults. Male and female 14-15 cm.
