Tai-Yagami Taichi
Tai is 11 in series 1, 14 in series 2.
Tai is your typical anie hero-brave and courageous and a natural born leader but also headstrong and sometimes dangeriously impulsive in his decisions. What Tai does, leading a group of kids about in a strange world is impressive so I guess you need a certain amount of courageousness and stubborness to do it, which Tai certainly possesses. Tai's younger sister is Kari, but I don't feel he's quite as possessive over her as matt is over TK..at least not in the same way, but from what I've seen they're quite close. Correct me if I'm wrong on this. My opinions are often totally different to other peoples!!!!
In the first series Tai is a goggle wearing huge haired kid who fights a lot with Matt but he changes in series 2...definately for the better. He gets along better with Matt and...I know I'm shallow so roll your eyes if you must..he becomes soooo kawaii. Yay. I mean, not that that's what i care about. Oh no. The anime itself with its complex storylines and hidden subtexts is so much more interesting. Really.
Anyway back to Tai. When he grows up Tai becomes an ambassorder alongside Agumon between the real and digital world and has a son.

Matt-Yamato Ishida
Matt is 11 in the first series and 14 in the second.
Matt is the cool one, who hides his feelings behind a wall of quietness (if that makes sense...). He appears to be a confident, detached person but in fact is senstitive and worries about being alone and being left out. This is mainly down to the fact his parents are divorced and he lives with his dad, split up from his mum and younger brother TK. This also leads to him having a very close relationship with his digimon partner, Gabumon.
Matt doesn't follow Tai's leadership and this often leads to fights between the two, however he thinks before he acts which is more than Tai does. In the second series Matt becomes a singer and guitar player in a band at school, which is a step up from series one where he plays...wait for it...a harmonica!!!!! He also has a crush on Sora and I think in the second series they start dating.
When he grows up he becomes an astronaut with Gabumon and makes it all the way to Mars when he was only meant to go to the moon. (How did that happen? Its not like you take the wrong turning and oooop you're suddenly on mars. Oh well...) He also has a son.
Matt's crest is the crest of friendship and his crest color is blue. His digimon is Gabumon, who is a great influence on Matt, helping him to interact more.

Sora-Takenouchi Sora
Sora is 11 in the first series and 14 in the second.
Sora is the voice of reason. She's a tomboy and loves to play soccer and have adventures. She really would like to have a wild advernurous time in the digital world but feels she must be the reasonable one who keeps everyone in check becuase of Matt and Tais constant bickering. She tries to keep the peace and always looks out for everyone.
Sora also at first doesn't believe she is capable of love (bless her-how sweet is that?) because she doesn't see eye to eye with her mother and doesn't understand why her mother does the things she does (for example once her mother kept her from going to a soccer game to help in her mother's flower shop because Sora was injured) but Sora's digimon partner Biyomon helps her to see what her mother was doing and makes Sora feel better.
In the second series Sora becomes very good at tennis and loses the helmet she wore in series one which is, as far as I am concerned, only good. What is it with the digidestined and helmets? Yolei, Sora and TK all wear them. Why? Why?
When she grows up Sora becomes a fashion designer and has two sons.
Sora has the crest of love and her crest color is red. Her digimon is Biyomon, who is just soooo sweet!

Izzy-Izumi Koushiro
Izzy is 10 in the first series and 13 in the second one-although don't you think that all the second series older digidestined look older than I say they are? Oh wel- i have been reliably ionformed so I gues it must be right. But I digress...
Izzy is like, the computer genius. He's very intelligent and good at working things out and is a great asset to the group because of this. He often tries to rationilise why the digital world exists among other things and he loves computer games. In fact I think he prefers his computer to people. The only problem is he sometimes gets lost in his thoughts and becomes oblivious to the world around him and occcasionally puts himself in danger because of it.
Izzy is actually adopted, although his parents wanted to keep this a secret from him-he found out be overhearing a conversation. His real parents were killed and his adoptive father was a distant cousin of his real father so he came to live with them. It must be tough for him but he seems to get through it.
In the second series Izzy is as big an asset as ever- it is he that investigates the D3 and gives them their names because of their three extra features. However he feels left ou because he doesn't take part in the action so much and is tus often left behind. He's brave enough to stand up to Tai about it though so go Izzy!
When he grows up Izzy monitors the digital world with the help of (one of..?) Joe's brother(s). He has a daughter and they have their own secret language.
Izzy's digimon is Tentomon who keeps Izzy from submerging entirely in his own thoughts and points out stuff Izzy's missed. Izzy's crest is the crest of knowledge and his crest color is purple.

Joe-Kido Jou
Joe is the oldest of the digidestined being 12 in the first series and 15 in the second.
Joe starts off as a very pessimistic person who always fears the worse. He has almost no confidence and is really bad at making descisions because he looks at the problem from every possible angle, although this is actually quite useful from the groups point of view. He also has a "better safe than sorry" attitude. Thus he at first comes over as rather annoying. You feel like yelling "Cheer up for goodness sake!!!!". However Joe changes as the series goes on, growing in confidence and becoming someone the whole team can always rely on, and I like him for that. Joe likes, of all people, Mimi, which is sweet but I don't think anything comes of it.
Joe is studying to become a doctor, to please his father rather than himself because he's too shy to rebel, but he is one of those rare people who enjoy homework and so on so I don't think it something he hates. I just wish he had the courage to do what he really wants to do, but never mind what I think, that's not the point.
The one thing I'm not sure about is if Joe has 1 or 2 brother. You see one in series 1 and one in series 2 but are they the same guy or two different people? I can't seem to find this out anywhere. If you know...email me!!!
When he grows up Joe becomes (surprise surprise) a doctor, the only one in the digital world, and has one son.
Joe has the crest of reilability and his crest color is teal apparently (what color is teal??!!). His digimon is Gomamon whi is like the complete opposite of Joe, always relaxed and telling jokes.

Mimi-Tachikawa Mimi
Mimi is 10 years old in the first series and 13 in the second.
Mimi is one of those people who loves shopping and clothes and is basically often a bit of an airhead. Usually those kind of people irratate me so much and it's true Mimi can be very annoying on occassion when she's only thinking of herself, but Mimi is a very caring person too and she's honest so she does have good points. She somes from a rich family so she likes to be the centre of attention and is used to having whatever she wants.
Mimi seems a bit of an unlikely digidestined as she is NOT an outdoorsey person and hates fighting-she frequently refuses to accept the fact she has to fight to save the digital and real worlds. However like everyone Mimi plays her part and I guess she shows you can do anything even if you didn't think you could and that everyone, no matter what they're like, plays an important part in the great scheme of things.
In the second series Mimi moves to New Yor, although she returns to Japan a lot. Also her hair changes all the time from pink to brown to red to curly to straight and so on and so on.
Mimi wanted to become a model when she grew up but in fact she ends up hosting her own cooking show with her digimon Palmon. She has one son.
Mimi's crest is the crest of sincerity and her crest color is green. Her digimon partner is Palmon, and the two are great friends. Palmon tries to teach Mimi to be more "aware" of others all the time.

TK-Takashi Takeru
 
TK (along with Kari) is the youngest of the digidestined in series 1. He's 8 in series 1 and 11 in series 2.
TK is Matt's younger brother, and although he looks up to Matt he sometimes gets irratated by Matt's overprotectiveness. Despite this he wants to impress Matt as much as possible.
TK is very sweet and caring. He always goes along with everyone else and I think he sometimes feels a bit little compared with all the older digidestined. He doesn't like to show fear and doesn't like to fight with anyone.
As TK is one of the younger digidestined he becomes part of the second digidestined and also gets a D3. He uses his knowledge of the digital world along with Kari to help the new digidestined get used to the digital world. He's still very sweet and caring but often gets into fights with Davis (do they remind you of anyome, for example Tai and Matt??!!) over Kari, as Davis really, REALLY likes Kari but TK feels protective of Kari because he knows her so well, much to the annoyance of Davis. He also loses the helmet. Yay!!!!

TK grows up to have a son and writes stories about his adventures in the digital world.

Kari-Yagami Hikari
Kari is 8 in the first series, 11 in the second.
Kari is one of my favourite characters-she's so compasionate and sweet. She hates hurting others, hiding her feelings to avoid offending people and she can't stand cruelty to digimon. She's Tai's younger sister.
Kari is quite special-she didn't get transported to the digital world when the others did because she was ill when summer camp began but she joins them later. Kari can hear and see and feel things the other digidestined can't. She was once taken into the dark ocean and can actually feel darkness (and no thats not the absence of light I'm talking about). She's very sensitive to it.
Alongside TK Kari hangs with th new digidestined in series 2. She's still the same Kari, except in the case of Davis where she (and the rest of the world) knows Davis likes her and loves teasing him about it, always taking TK's side. However she doesn't do this to the point of bitchiness. Also in series 2 she loses the whistle and wears..wait for it..a digital camera around her neck at all times instead. I can understand she likes taking photos a lot but imagine what would happen if you wore a camera to school. I guess in the world of anime you can get away with a lot more...like helmets and orange dungarees.
When she grows up Kari becomes a kindergarten teacher (which is so Kari and has a son. I think she gives her whistle to him actually.
Kari has the crest of light and I think digiegg of light too, and her crest/D3 color is pink. Her digimon is the oh so cute Gatomon.

Davis-Motomiya Daisuke
Davis is 11 in series 2.
Davis is the Tai of the second series and he is (yawn yawn-I'm sorry but you came across so many of them) yet another brave, courageous, yet impulsive anime hero. There's no doubt he's the right guy for the job. However he doesn't entirely work alone as it were, because Kari and TK have such a good knowledge of the digital world they often take the role of leader with him, and the nice thing about the digidestined is that although there is THE LEADER, they tend to work out a lot of problems together. But I digress...
I have to say that I'm very fond of Davis. He may not be my ultimate hero but he's impressively brave, he's always ready to try new things and he's very loyal to his friends. He has total faith that things will work out and that he'll achieve his goals, and that's very valuable, as you will see if you see the end of the second sereis. Also, Davis learns from his mistakes. When he first comes into the digital world he makes a fool of himself a lot (bless him) and all he wants to do is fight, but he quickly adapts, he listens to the others and he learns. I have a lot of respect for him.
As well as this (ok this is turning into a Davis shrine!!!!! Not good!!!) Davis is very forgiving-when Ken stops being the kaiser it's Davis who first forgives him and tries to get Ken to join them when the others don't trust him.
Davis really, really, likes Kari, and though she's always shunning him and making fun of him he stays besotted. Davis also likes soccer and is pretty good at it too.

Yolei-Inoue Miyako
Yolei, at 12, is the oldest of the second digidestined.
Yolei is pretty similar to several of the series 1 digidestined. Like Izzy she is a computer whizz-both at using and fixing them, and like Sora she loves adventure. However Yolei is most like Mimi and in fact she idolises the older digidestined. Like Mimi, Yolei at first doesn't want to fight with the others, although she accepts it a lot more readily than Mimi did. She also likes clothes and boys. She has a major crush on Ken, until she realises he's the Digimon Emporer, although when he's back to normal Ken she almost immediately starts liking him again. Aside from Ken, Yolei loves food. Her parents own a convieniance store, which perhaps explains why, and she often takes supplies from there (although she has to pay), much to the delight of the bottomless pits known as digimon.
Yolei has 2 sisters and 1 brother and, being the youngest in her family, is somewhat spoilt, which I think explains why she tends to be quite bossy and determined to do what she wants, at least at first, but she isn't a really nasty person. Yolei is also good friends with the very quiet Cody.
Yolei however has NO FASHION SENSE!!!! Seriously. Apart from anything else she wears a helmet. WHY THE HELMET???? WHY DO ALL THE DIGIDESTINED LIKE TO WEAR HELMETS???? Sorry I'll stop shouting now. Also Yolei's clothes in the digital world are really quite weird. What is with the trousers? Seriously-when she first entered the digital world I thought she'd be horrified at what she was wearing (I was rolling on the floor laughng at the time) but she looked down at them with delight! At which point my jaw hit the floor. I'm not Yolei bashing or anything. I like Yolei. I just have a thing about the clothes anime characters sometimes wear. I'm all for indivudiality and not following the crowd but sometimes what anime characters wear is just wrong. Like Max's dungarees (from beybladers by the way). I'm sorry but I will not shut up about them until he wears something different. But this is a Yolei page not an anime fashion page! So back to Yolei...
Yolei ends up marrying Ken and having 3 kids (I used to be sooooo jealous of her 'cause I had this major thang for Ken. But I'm totally over that now. Totally. They are good together. Really.)

Cody-Hida Iori
Cody is only 9 in series 2 and therefore is the youngest of the group, however in some ways he is the most mature and wise of the group. He is way quieter than the others and therefore tends to think things through and come up with better solutions to problems than the others do. He's very like Joe in that he looks at problems from every angle. Although occassionally, like with Joe, you kinda wish he'd be a bit more daring.
Cody lives with his grandfather (who teaches him kendo) and mother in the same apartment block as Yolei and TK. His father died in action as a policeman, and it is obvious Cody misses him a lot. Cody's good friends with Yolei too. He's very respectful of his elders-he doesn't like speaking out against people and he listens hard to others. He's also quite shy of people at first.
I think the only sometimes bad point about Cody is that it takes a while for him to trust people. He deosn't believe at first that the other digidestined will respect him and he is the last to trust Ken after he stops being the Digimon Emporer. He's like the exact opposite of Davis.
When he grows up Cody becomes a lawyer and has 1 daughter.
Cody has the digieggs of knowledge and reliability and his D3 color is yellow. His digimon is Armadillomon, who is very lazy.

Ken-Ichijoji Ken/The Digimon Emporer
Now, Ken is gonna take a little longer than the others to describe, on account of him being two characters-Ken Ichijoji and the Digimon Emporer.
We'll start with the emporer, who appears at the start of the second series and is just about as close to pure evil as you'll get. He enslaves digimon, beats them and overworks the. He tries to prevent the digidestined from entering the digital world and he tries to take the whole thing over, so he is in complete control, treating it as some sort of game as opposed to reality. A reality anyway. So how does sweet Ken, who has the crest of kindness become this monster I hear you cry. Well, when Ken was little he had an older brother called Sam, whom he loved dearly and looked up to. One day though a digivice appears for Sam and he tells Ken not to touch. Ken, being a little kid therefore does , causing an extremely irratated Sam to hit him. Hurt, Ken wishes Sam were dead, though of course hw doesn't really mean. However an unfortunate car accident makes Ken's wish come true, entirely by coincidence. Ken does not see it this way though and is filled with darkness and guilt. It is then that the powers of darkness (later discovered to be Oikawa, working through...) pounce, sending Ken emails entreating him to come to the digital world where he can escape his problems, Ken does and becomes infected with darkness turning into the Digimon Emporer in the digital world, and giving him genius abilities so that Ken feels he can please his parents in the real world. Nothing, it seems, can stop him either from taking over the digital world or from being controlled by darkness as the emporer, until Ken makes Kimeramon, an uberpowerful digimon which even Ken cannot control. It is wormmon, Ken's digimon partner who realises this and sacrifices himself to free Ken. Finally, the digimon emporer is gone and Ken Ichijoji returns home, tired and alone.
However Ken is not destined to be alone forever. Wormmon soon returns, reincarnated (is that the right word?) at the Primary Village in the digital world. The two have a joyful reunion and Ken, feeling more guilty than ever about what he's done to the digital world starts to try and make things better. At first he works alone, not trusted be the others and not allowing himself to be with them. But Davis soon forgives him and helps Ken become part of the group, convincing the others to forgive and trust him again and also helps Ken become a digidestined in his own right. Ken finds the crest of kindness and after much heartache manages to forgive himself and not feel guilty anymore.
I hope I explained that ok-it's such a sad story. But at least it has a happy ending.
Ken grows up to marry Yolei and becomes a detective (I'm not sure why. It seems a bit obscure but there you go...)
Ken's digimon partner is Wormmon and his D3 color is black. He has the crest of kindness.
