Maybe miles, or fear, or lack of
closeness, perhaps just circumstances,
sometimes these things we can change by choice,
some cannot be changed for the very
reason they are caused.
It is a difficult path sometimes,
painful when you need to be with someone,
to touch someone,
but distance prevents this from being so.
Two hearts, seeking, but then
the distance remains....
Is it that we dont feel or can't feel,
or is it we won't allow ourselves to close
the gap?
Do we feel chained, by obligation or
a false sense of pride?
Are we pushing away,
or only drawing near,
just so far to the very closeness
and intimacy of spirit we crave,
by not welcoming it and its warmth,
but drawing back again behind safe walls?
Why is it we sometimes live a life
not our choice, or a life alone,
rather than reaching out to the
love offered us, lying in wait in the dark?
Will the distance ever close,
through trust and realization that there is
truly love between two bruised hearts?
Will time give the faith to finally know,
there is nothing to fear, but fear of love itself?
Until we know the answers,
we wait, hiding inside ourselves,
deep in shadows of the heart,
until the light of love,
brings us to our destiny,
or we never reach for the light,
remaining forever in the shadows alone,
always with unspoken questions.
Choose the light.
