Auto Racing

The dust from many a night of dirt track auto racing has always been
in my nostrils, with just a trace of racing fuel running in my veins.
My auto racing interests range from the ranks of NASCAR to the shadetree
mechanics of the 4 cylinder Sat. night specials.

It is race day and the drivers are ready
Holding their nerves calm and steady.

The fans are poised to hear that sound
Of engines roaring as the cars go around.

The sun is bright and the track is fast
That awaited moment has come at last.

"Gentlemen, start your engines", is heard
To race fans ears, they are famous words.

A green flag dropped, fans rose to their feet
Cheering and shouting which driver to beat.

So many competitors out there on the track
But our favorite cars pulled ahead of the pack.

While cars circled the track at record speed
Our top drivers were making us proud indeed.

At the races end, when the checkered fell
All our favorite drivers had done very well.

Victory lane was all filled with happy smiles
By the driver who had lead so many miles.

This had been a perfect day for us to share
Talking, smiling and just so happy to be there

Getting through this life is a race we all run
By enjoying the race, we have already won.
