Van Gogh's Starry Night

Chapter Three:  The Other People

Glafo yawned.  "Tell me what you've seen, Zeeca", he said.

"I was surprised", said Zeeca.  "I saw that today nobody went away from their family.  That was unusual."

"Come on", said Blasha.  "Let's get back to the house."

"When will we be there?" whined Zeeca after a while.

"We'll be there in two gooshas", said Boofa.  The family was going back through the thickest cluster of trees in the area, where their favourite hiding place was.  They would spend a day there every seventeen days, watching.

Soon they were at their house, made from logs cut from the trees by the algae-covered watering hole.  Zeeca went straight to the family bed made of leaves and stringy things and soft bark, while the adults talked about what they had seen.

After a while, Glafo said, "what Zeeca noticed was a little unusual.  Remember how often we've seen one of the non-rememberers wander away from their family?  Today they had nothing to cry about until nightfall."

"Let's go to bed", said Laca.  "We'll talk about how to help them tomorrow, during the Three Gooshas."
