Chapter One:  The Planet

Hello, my name is Shlomo.  Want me to tell you a story I heard?  Yes?  Well, here it is.

A long time ago there was – and still is – a planet that was almost like our planet, but it was different.  In the north polar region the snow was blue and the ice was white.  The polar bears were blue to camouflage in the snow, and the seals were white to camouflage with the ice when they went up through the holes.

In the north-west continent, there were evergreens that were red, so from now on I will call them EVERREDS.

In the south-west continent, there were yellow palm trees and purple sand.

In the north-east continent, there were ENORMOUS stones floating on the water, that you could have walked on, and there is almost no space that you could see the water.  But in the spaces that you could see the water, it is like a watering hole, and the animals there like to drink from it.

In the south-east continent, there was pink sand and strange trees of all sorts.

In the south polar region, there are ice caverns, and in them are marks that look like strange images.

Around the planet’s equator, there was a tropical jungle.  There were very thick trees, so anything that was there would be in shadow.  Anywhere there was water, there was algae covering it.

There were no beasts of prey in the jungle, but there were plant-eating animals.  One of them was what I will call a “crabanana”, which is a crab that lives by the water but also climbs up to the top of the trees, and gets in the sun, and eats bananas.  Also, there is something I will call a “giraffaplese”.  It is a thing that lives in the water and has a neck and head like a giraffe, but a longer neck than a giraffe, and a body like a plesiosaurus.  It eats by stretching its neck high into the trees to get into the sun and eat fruit, with the peel on, with the peel off, ANYTHING, WHATEVER.
