| SUNSET TO YOUTH | ||||

| Softly, Your golden touch Spreads over the land Making mountains into Valleys of shadow And peaks of light The green looks golden Enriched and enlivened And the sight takes me on a journey Back to my youth Staring at such a sunset Breathless at its timeless beauty And effervescent touch How I played in that light Making it my favourite time of day Revelling in the joyousness That it created within me The long grass whipped at my face Bushes scratching my limbs As I ran Ebullient and carefree In the dying light Letting dusk fall upon me Turning into night Quietly, As the sun departs Gold turning to red And slowly to shadow Remembering the insouciant days past Played out in so many sunsets I sigh to recall And hope to never forget. |
