| Melancholy whispers rustled in the trees They had listened to the tears that fell Unbound and unfettered from the very heart of me The crystalline drops echoeing like a bell For the very core of myself had been ripped open Like a ripe melon left in the sun for too long For my heart had been unconscionably broken And left to beat it's battered and bruised song I wept like the tomorrows had stopped coming And the sun would no longer rise For my future had dissipated mist-like Hope had left in my pure love's demise Naked emotion, emancipated and left putrid Bubbling and seething on the grass beneath my feet Slowing sinking, on knees unable to hold me tall Lamentation turns to anger, and then regret For that which made me weak and come to this Crushed and defenceless beneath his emotional rampage Powerless to halt the destruction of all that made me And incarcerated me in this miserable cage Strength comes from the trials that test you And even the angels will one day fall I will stand proud and magnificent, stalwart with a smile And re-enter the world, grass stains and all. |
