S.I.L.K Book Club Rules
The following is a simple list of rules, the club decided on, to help establish and maintain uniformity within the club. We decided to have rules because we want serious club members with common interest and the same participation level. 1. Members need an email address and internet access to receive meeting invitations, and access to the club's web-site (Yahoo has free e-mail accounts if you don't have one. We can use instant messenger to chat if everyone signs up with Yahoo) 2. Each member is expected to host one meeting annually. 3. Each member should bring book suggestions. Keep in mind the length of suggested books (generally 500 pages maximum) when selecting your book. The actual books we read will be selected by a count of hands at the meetings. 4. Monthly, weekend meetings will be held on Saturday's at reasonable times (start at 2:30PM, end before 5:00PM). 5. Monthly meetings should only be cancelled for extreme reasons. The back-up host will hold the meeting. 6. Please be courteous to the hostess of the month and respond to invitations in a timely manner. If you RSVP you're coming but your plans change, please call or email the hosting member. 7. Members should truly be interested in the club and try to attend all meetings. 8. Club membership limited to Ten (10) members (at this time) and is by invitation only. 9. Minimum age for members is 18.
Membership Guidelines
Remember membership is by invitation only!! When inviting a potential member use these guidelines: 1.Members should be genuinely interested in joining the club not just attending a meeting occasionally. 2. They should be willing to read the suggested books and have time to read. 3. They should be willing to participate in discussions 4. And they must have an e-mail address and access to the internet, to receive invitations to meetings and access the clubs website. Any potential members should read the book for the month, attend the next meeting and participate in the discussion. Make sure you give the name and e-mail address of the potential member to the host for the month so an invitation can be sent. The current members will decide if the person will become a new member.
