| This club is aimed at satisfying that feeling you get when you've just read a GOOD book and want to talk about it intelligently with someone and there's no one to discuss it with. Dorothea Murrell and Rosalynd Lister founded it July 30, 2003 with the following hopes in mind: 1. Have fun and good fellowship without stressing over family and work. 2. To broaden our horizon by reading different genres of books. 3. To have intelligent,stimulating discussions about the books we chose to read 4. To meet new people and possibly form friendships. In an effort to challenge our minds we will have several genres to chose from: 1. Fiction (Novels) 2. Autobiographies/Biographies 3. Mystery 4. African American Authors 5. New York Times Best Sellers 6. Self Enhancing (i.e. spritual growth.....) Book suggestions come from all members and we will vote on the book we will read. When you bring your suggestions be prepared to give a little info on the author or compelling reasons we should read the book. (ie.. it was recommended by a reputable source, you have loved all the authors previous writing etc.....) We use e-mail to send meeting invitations and the club website as a central point of communication. We also hope to use Yahoo messenger to chat as well. At this time we'd like to keep the membership at 10 members this way everyone can be involved in discussions and won't be intimidated by a large group. In the future if we decide to add more members we will vote on it. As we grow we may want to become involved in community activities. As we become familiar with one another we may plan club social events. (i.e girl's night out, a family outing, a cruise etc....) |
