Henna: a plant that grows both wild and domestically from which the leaves are harvested, dried, and ground into a fine powder, mixed with oils and teas, and applied to the skin to produce a red, to orange to brown stain that can last up to four weeks. Mehndi is treasured throughout the Middle East, Africa, and Asia for both men and women. It is a tradition that has been handed down for generations uncounted. These tattoos are used for the simplest cosmetics as well as deep religious and spiritual body art celebrating the complexity of human conciousness.
