Hawaii 99
Our son Paul had a birthday coming, so John and I decided to take him to Hawaii to celebrate. Sounds like fun huh? Getting Paul to agree to leave the area took four months. When the time arrived to go I was exhausted making sure everything was "secure"...his words, not mine.Click The limo service arrived to take us to the airport and the adventure began.
It was a bumpy ride from Eureka to San Francisco and all three of us were wide-eyed with a bit of fear. The flight from San Francisco to Hawaii was a very welcomed smooth ride.
We stepped off the plane in Hawaii and a burst of warm air swept across our faces and we knew it was a good choice to celebrate Paul1s 38th birthday in PARADISE.
The hotel rooms overlooked Waikiki Beach. What a fantastic breathtaking view. A rented car went with the package deal. We spent seven, fun filled, wonderful days in Hawaii.
We visited the Arizona Memorial and the Mighty Mo.Click History relived.Click It was serene and breathtaking at the same time.
We attended a luau in Paradise Cove.Click Hawaiian music filled the air as we sat and feasted on roast pigClick and sipped Blue Hawaiians and watched Hula dancers.Click Paul was the official photographer for the vacationClickall the photos have girls in the background. HA!
ClickWe doved in a submarine 150 feet below the ocean surface. Artifical reefClick has been placed on the ocean floor and many varieties of fishClick and sea creatures inhabit the reef.Click
We visited the aquarium where we saw a shark and many interesting sea creatures including coral. I touched a sea urchin. Weird feeling...almost like a pile of toothpicks.
On Paul's birthday we went on a sunset dinner cruise.ClickClickClick The food was deliscious and the entertainment was outstanding. More hula dancersClick...to Paul's delight.ClickClickClick
We went snorkeling on a catamaran. The water was freezing. A bad choice to snorkel in March. I will definitely remember that for next time we go to Hawaii.
Of course we shopped and shopped. Paul is quite a shopper, too. We drove to the Dole Pineapple PlantationClick and slurped down pineapple ice cream. Yum-Yum!
One highlight of the adventure was a visit to the Portuguese Hawaiian Genealogical Society and had lunch with our internet friends Sandy and Maxine. We spent almost 3 hours chatting.Click
