Introducing
MSM-Activate
In 1993, Micronetics introduced MSM-API as a C library for
UNIX systems and subsequently as a Windows Dynamic Link Library (DLL). MSM-API was bundled
with MSM-Workstation 1 when it was released. Since then, MSM-API has been continually
updated, developed, and extended to provide more and more functionality.
MSM-Activate has evolved into a multi-faceted middleware
product that enables a range of development tools or languages to access MSM-based
routines and data in a consistent and standard manner, using a range of industry standard
technologies.
By adopting a thin client/server approach to the design of
MSM-Activate, you can create business logic on any MSM-Server platform and attain
high-speed access to that logic from a range of third-party development tools, languages,
and technologies. The client portion of MSM-Activate enables you to call or trigger your
business logic using techniques including OLE, ActiveX, DCOM, Java and Static or Dynamic
Linked Libraries. This makes MSM-Activate a key technology when you are looking to develop
client/server, Internet or Intranet applications with high-performance access to business
logic residing on an MSM Server system.
The client portion of the MSM-Activate package includes a
DCOM object an ActiveX controls set of Java classes, a JavaBean, the original DLL, and C
Library. MSM-Activate, which has been de-bundled from MSM-Workstation, will be available
as a free add-on and will be downloadable from Micronetics' web site soon.
