PROGRAMS FOR THE INDEPENDENCIA DE VENEZUELA CONTEST

In this file (CONTEST) on any of the distribution ways (COMPRESSED or
SELFEXTRACT) are 2 programs and 6 data files.

1.- Extract all the files on your preferred directory.

2.- Execute the program ADMPRT and use the OPTION "7" to select a PRINTER,
if your printer is not on the list you can test with the supplied by
default. You can also read the manual of your printer and search for a
compatible one or you can select the "950" printer, this one will leave
all the outputs on the disk as plain text using files with names as
xxxxx.prn where xxxxx will be the name of the report, you will be advice
on the screen for this name and thereafter you can print using the DOS
PRINT comand or use a text processor.
The keys to page will be actives (PgUp or PgDwn) to go forward or backward
one screen and the cursor up and down to select one on a screen.
Use F5 to select the printer to use by the system.
The selected printer should be marked with a blinking "S".
If you are using a printer port other than LPT1 modify the definition
to mach your printing port, then select it as the system printer.
Is possible also to modify all the parameters on the selected printer.

3.- Execute the program YVTEST, this will ask for the mode of the contest
(CW or SSB), the year, your callsign on the contest, an autosave number
of QSOs and your time offset with the UTC time, remember to the west of
the Greenwich meridiem is -N hours, to the east +N hours.
The time needed to save the data is very short but it vary depending on
the speed of the hard disk and the computer clock speed.
If you use a laptop you can use a 0 number of QSO in autosave, but if the
power failures are commons, use a low number (ie 1 to 5) to avoid lost of
     data.

4.- The program have 2 ways of input QSOs, one is online (remember to adjust
with acuracy the time of your computer with your local time) and the other
is passing from a paper log after the contest.
The program takes care all about countries areas dupes etc. The areas
needed on a band will be on the top right portion of the input screen.
If you have a contact before the program gaves you your sent number and the
received number from the dupe station.
There are 2 function keys on the ON-LINE mode :
F6 to open a pile up window, the keys actives for use will be shown.
f8 to set the inquiry mode, thus you can serach the band and ask the
program for a station, the program responses are QSO before or
this is a new one, you can continue on this mode, end this mode or
return to the log with the station inquired.
The program ever show on the screen a sumary of points, QSOs, countries,
areas, dupes and the general score. Also the last QSO info will appear
on the low right side of the screen.
To exit this option use END as the call and the program will save the data
and return to the main menu.
On anytime you can save the data, use SAVE as the call and the program will
     save the data.
IMPORTANT ! The callsigns with a "/" must have it on the end of the call.
     I. E. : OH5NE/MVI HA0KB/SV5 etc. Only one "/" must be used.

5.- The program is easy to use and the options will be on the last line of the
screen, but use it before the contest to know all about it, don't be afraid
and make any test you think or need, the best way is use all the options
and when the contest come you will feel that the program is an extension of
the microphone or the cw key.

6.- Some files will be created as YVFmyyxx.DBF and YVFmyyxx.NTX where m would
be the mode (C=CW S=SSB), yy would be the year and xx the type of file
     (IN=call-band LG=log CT=control CN=countries).
If you need to begin a diferent test, or be ready for the contest you
must erase this files from the hard disk only then the program will ask
all the questions named on the point 3. If not the program only ask for
mode and year and will continue on the point you exit the last use.

to exit the program you always have the Esc key, the program will save the
     date before ending.
