Another Woman?
Wheres your friend? DCI Mumford asked as he walked towards the desk that Harry was sat at.
Harry lifted his head in recognition, a confused look on his face.
You know. Pretty, dark hair. Was flirting with you earlier. Harry blushed a bit at the last part, and noticed Nikki staring at him.
Do you mean Vanessa? she asked Mumford with a tight lipped smile.
Yes, thats it. Vanessa. Do you know where she is?
Nikki shook her head Sorry.
Mumford began to walk away, but stopped in the doorway and turned to face them.
If I were you, he paused for effect Id keep an eye on my boyfriend, he looked at Harry, who promptly rolled his eyes, before turning his head back in Nikkis direction If you know what I mean, he winked at her, before continuing out the door.
Harry and Nikki sat in silence for a while, neither knowing quite what to say.
What happened
Its not how it sounds
They both smirked at the fact theyd begun talking at the same time.
You first, Harry offered.
No, go on.
He took a deep breath. You know Mumford. Likes to cause problems. Enjoys stirring things up. Harry grimaced Especially when it involves me.
Nikki smiled at him. Yeah, I know. She stopped, unsure of how to continue. Its just she looked up at him, before turning her eyes back to her desk and seemingly becoming very interested in a stain left by a mug. I saw her earlier. And well she was all over you. She heard Harry chuckle, but didnt look up. Harry stood up and slowly made his way round to her desk. He perched on the edge and took her hand in one of his. With the other, he gently lifted her chin, forcing her to look at him.
Just because she flirts with me, or is all over me doesnt mean a thing. How could it when Im head over heels in love with the woman in front of me? They shared a smile as Harry lent down and touched his lips to hers.
So how have you found your first day? Leo asked the dark haired woman sat opposite him.
Well, I was a little anxious to begin with, but everyone is so friendly that I feel pretty settled in already, she smiled at him.
Well that is good news, he replied as he smiled back. Ill see you tomorrow then.
