"Nicotine"
On my 19th cigarette
20th about to be lit
Too broke & tired
To buy another pack
And while I sit here
Smoking
My heart remaining
Broken
And still I think
That I might get her
Back
But She's too gone
To come back
And she's too far
To be here
And I'm too alone
To be there by her side
So I'll just sit here
Breathing in
The nicotine and
Oxygen
And wait for her
To be
Closer to me [back here again]…
I quit for about
A month
She left, And I
Went back to it
If she comes back
I'll gladly give it up
It's not the cigarettes
I'm needing
It's the memory
Of breathing
Of her sleeping in my arms
Every night
But She's too gone
To come back
And she's too far
To be here
And I'm too alone
To be there by her side
So I'll just sit here
Breathing in
The nicotine and
Oxygen
And wait for her
To be
Closer to me [back here again]…
Addiction doesn't feed
The heart
Feeds the body,
Not the soul
And I'm all torn
Apart
All I'm asking is
For a chance to make
It right
To have her back beside me
Before the day turns into
Night…
Now I've finished my last
Smoke
Had I air
I would have spoke
Words to her
To make her
Stay…
