| I was never a technology guy. I was the book guy, a journal, a database type of person, the search engine wizard. So what the hell am I doing with the Virtual Adepts? It's not about the computers. It's about the philosophy. It's about the data. It's about the flow of memes, of ideas, of mind, of culture going back and forth, a free exchange, an enlightenment of the masses. Yes, it may fall into the wrong hands, that's what I'm trying to prevent. It may not be understood by everyone but it's about the potential. The potential of information to just grow. |
| My life started at the University. It opened doors I never thought existed. I met the most interesting people and learned the most fantasic bits of data. I was the resource guy- the one with library cards for half of America, the high baud modem, the best search techniques on the planet. I loved the library and I spent a good portion of my years there. The other portion, I dabbled in "data retreival" and hanging out with "the Legion", my gang of friends, a bunch of fellow scraggly coffee high University students and their friends from other campuses, all interested in mysteries, computers, Dungeons and Dragons, and other strange things. I always knew that information was a precious comodity, I was the gifted and talented kid growing up, the one who checked out more books than his weight and used all his time just storing up information like uploading files. And these facts stayed there, that was the best part. I have a good memory, not eidetic, but usefull. So for a short answer, yes, I was definately on the road to Awakening from my early years. It just took some intervention and a real blast to the psyche by my friends.
