| Name: Sarabi Sayyid Haddad Branch: Cape Town - the Imani Age: 17 Sex: Female Birthdate: 2018 Birthplace: Somewhere in Jordan Height: 5'5" Body type: slim, but with curves Skin tone: dark caramel Eye color: deep brown-black Hair color: dark brown-black Hair style: long, and usually hidden underneath a headdress called a marameh. Her hair is very beautiful; she keeps it soft and glistening with olive oil Nationality/Ethnicity: Negev Bedouin Physical markings: her hands, lower arms and feet (when you see them) are often covered in intricate henna tattoos. ~~~ Special Power(s): She sees spirits, including ghosts and other kinds. She is a medium, but does NOT like the fact (it makes her feel intensely violated or evil). Other powers reveal themselves later... Special Equipment: Her pendant, which she inherited from her beloved aunt who was killed defending her. The pendant has later-to-be-revealed magical properties. Rank: junior member Previous Experience/Job: She was her father's second wife's eldest daughter, and the future bride of Abdullah al Rahman. Like the other women in her family/tribe, she was in charge of various home chores. Languages Spoken: Arabic, and very little English ~~~ Father: Sayyid bin Haddad Mother: Nadia Ahmed Haddad Other familial tidbits: Sarabi's name means "mirage," and that's often how she felt. Her mother was her father's second wife, and therefore not a person of great importance in the family. Her father is harsh and controlling. Not a complete heartless brute, but mired in ethnocentric views. She has five full brothers (all younger, two older half-sisters, and four older half-brothers. Likes: bedouin food; being safe; swimming and dancing (the two activities where she really feels free) Dislikes: her father's American mistress, and this makes her extremely distrustful of anyone Caucasian; loud people; "fake" women who flaunt their sexuality. Also has an intense fear of being intimate. Clothing choices: a jalabiyya, the hooded robe of her people. She also wears a headdress (marameh) and when in public or traveling, the veil (hijab). This disappears quickly after her move to Cape Town. Accessories: she has a polished tiger stone on a leather necklace that belonged to her aunt. She also has an anklet of tiny gold coins and a braided/woven belt of extremely soft silken material with gold strands. She also has a curved dagger called a dshanbije. ~~~ Catch Phrases: "Di eh 'aizihin" (what do you want?); "El Budsh" (a species of vulture!); "Dsu'l fikar!" (Preserved sword of Mohammed!) and several others Personality Quirks: Sarabi is very reluctant to join the Cape Town group, and for obvious reasons. At first she is very quiet and traditional. She has learned to be submissive, because in her world it is practically a survival tool. She is very uncomfortable with the idea that she is "chosen" or "special," and is very resistent to her powers of seeing spirits. She feels it makes her "evil" somehow. Yet deep inside Sarabi is a strength that will not quit. She may not say much, but she feels things deeply. The hurt and repression she has suffered under has had the same basic effect of putting a lot of combustible material under a tight lid... |
