Gigelf was directly linked to the Silent Crisis, and in fact accidentally caused it. Gigelf worked closely with the Sorcerer's Guild and Lebia Maverick's grandfather to combine science and sorcery and open the gates of Nemesis. It was believed that doing so would switch the impure elements of Earth and Nemesis, healing both worlds. However, due to the treachery of Ganossa Maximillian and the Lucifer Hawk, the Gates' opening instead disrupted the Earth's ley lines and destroyed the majority of the atmosphere. After the Lucifer Hawks came to Earth, Gigelf fought against them with Grosspoliner, and was killed in battle. Fuyuka died when Katsumi was still young, and since then Katsumi has always felt she has grown up without a family.
