Mysterious Lights:  Occured on 1996 - Posted on 04/18/05

This is a very old story indeed.  As best I can remember, was 9 years old, I lived in Irving Texas in a moderately sized house, my Mom was happily married to my former stepdad, and was well.  My stepdads first son was about 35.  He marred a latino woman and had two mixed children.  I didn't care because this was long before I was a racist.  I remember that my stepdad's son's family came to visit us for some holiday or something.  I had two nephew-in-laws.  I think thier names were Ricki and Joshua.  Ricki was older than me, and Joshua was one year younger.  I must have been a very odd uncle of sorts.  Anyway, one wall of my room was decorated with a lot of glow in the dark stickers.  They were mostly stars, planets, and just about anything spacely that would glow in the dark.  I wanted to show Joshua my glow in the dark stickers.  I know, I was a Kool Kid, but hey I was 9 years old.  I got him to come in my room and take a seat on the floor.  I pointed to wall with all the stickers on it.  He did not seem to be to exited at all.  Anyway, I turned off the lights and was quiet while he looked.  When I turned the lights on, I found him looking in the ass opposite direction as my glow in the dark wall of coolness.  "That little bastard", I thought to myself.  I asked him if he saw my wall.  He said, "no."  I asked him what he was looking at and he said there was some really cool glow in the dark stuff by my closet.  I looked by my closet in total beffutlement.  After a quick scan I saw a glow in the dark Ninja Turtle toy.  I think it was one of the bad guys, a glow in the dark evil snapping turtle I think.  Anyway, I told him I'm not sure what glows over there but I would turn the lights out and see.  I turned the lights out.  I really wish I would have left them on.  There was absolutely nothing by the closet.  That glow in the dark toy had either long ago lost its glow or was dimmed by and even brighter light.  The closet was big.  It was a double door closet built for storing lots of clothes.  There was light coming from inside the right (farthest from us) door of closet.  I know you are saying:  "Well durr Driftor, they closet light was on."  But that closet was a very small closet, a closet with no lights in it.  The ligh was very bright with light.  It was well contained though.  At first it only encompassed the bottom right corner of the crack between the door and the room.  The it slid around to the bottom, up the left side, and back down the bottom again.  This all happened very quickly, it couldn't have been more than five seconds.  Fear had frozen my hand on the light switch.  I moved.  I moved the light switch to the ON position.  The lights in the room drowned out the lights in the closet.  All I could do was look over at Joshua.  He had a look of total bewilderment on his face.  I suppose that I looked no better.  I remember looking at him and breathing real hard for about two seconds.  Then we simultaneously screamed, jumped up, ran out the door, and started screaming at our parents to take us out of the house.  I think he started crying, I might have too.  You got to remember, I was only 9 and he was 8.  Anyway, our outburst concerned the hell out of our mothers; while his father and my stepdad didn't seem to care at all.  We frantically related the tale.  After about thirty minutes of talking Joshua and I finally calmed down.  They went back to the room to check it out.  They came back and said everything was fine.  It took almost another hour for them to get us to go back to the room.  When we did go back to the room, the whole family was there.  They opened the closet only to find that there was not light socket in it, no electrical outlet, nothing glow in the dark, no signs of fire damage, and really not much of anything.  All that was found was a few old hangers on the cloths rack and an empty cardboard box.  As best I can remember, I spen the next week sleeping in my parents room, and avoiding my room as much as possible. I really don't know what was in that closet that caused such light.  Was it an Angel?  I hope so.  Was it a demon?  I hope not.  Was it a lone ghost?  I wish a knew.  Was it a doorway to another realm?  If it was then I am glad niether of us opened the door.  Eighter way, it was a long time ago.  That has never happened again.  As an older teen now, I wonder how I dealt with such things when I was a kid.
