Donnie got up late this morning but still got setup before daylight. He heard a noise out the hill but nothing came in so he settled in again. At around 8:30am a buck came walking stright toward him. At about 20 yards he took the quartering to him shot. The buck turned and ran off in the same direction it had came with its tail down and looking like it was hurt. Donnie reloaded then started tracking. Looking in the spot where he shot him all he found was a handful of hair, no blood. He followed the deer trail for about 100 yards until it went down a steep bank and still no blood. At the bottom of this bank he found the first drop of blood. He kept tracking, finding more blood every few yards. When he saw the buck it was still on its feet at the edge of a steep steep hillside. It was wobblling on its feet so he just watched as it walked over toward the field and layed down. Donnie took his eyes off the buck for a second and when he looked back the buck was gone. He jumped up and ran after the buck with gun ready. A few yards out the piney flat the buck got down again and didnt get up. Success!!
After a short pull with the 4wheeler the buck was in the truck and heading home.
