| Paul heard two gobblers at daylight but they were way around the mountain and since he had found turkeys yesterday in this location he decided to stay there. After calling for awhile with no results he walked out the trail toward where he had heard the gobblers. He set up in the area and started calling. He would call about every 15 minutes or so then watch and listen for aproching birds. At about 11:45am He caught sight of something moving out the ridge. It was a big Tom Struting. The bird didn't make one gobble it just appeared, spiting, drumming and struting. It was struting by walking sideways stiff legged first to the right then to the left at full strut all the time and draging his wings in the dirt. Paul waited till the struting tom got behind a tree and made his move to get his gun and hisself into position. Then he watched the show until the big gobbler got within range and he had a clear shot. At the sound of the shot the gobbler fell. Number two in the record book. |
