Kobashi Teruhiko, the vocalist of Glay, was born in Hakodate, Hokkaido. Teru, which means 'shining boy', and his sister were very closed. They always went to the beach. When Teru was a kindergarten student, he always played with his other little classmates in the sand playground until their clothes and body became very dirty ( Teru must enjoyed it very much ne...^^). When he was a kid, his friends used to called him 'Teko'.

Teru like to draw a lot. He is very talented in art. Every day, after he came back from school, he would do his drawing activities with the papers and pencils that his mother had always prepared for him. When Teru was drawing, he was very concentrated. That was why his parents didn't have to worry to leave him alone at home. When Teru was in the elementary, he won the third place in a drawing competition that was held in Hokkaido. The topic of his drawing was " My Papa's Portrait ". This drawing was even published in the local newspaper ne ... Besides art, Teru also liked to play baseball. When he was in primary six, he became the baseball team's leader. Became a baseball player was what he had ever dreamt of.

Teru was in the same elementary and junior high school with Takuro, but they didn't know each other very well.  That time, Teru was still in the baseball team. However, they chose different high schools. When Teru was a senior in junior high school, computer games were very popular. He went to  Takuro's house several times because he was supposed to buy Takuro's computer games. Teru remembered that when he went to Takuro's house, there was a guitar and Takuro was listening to The Beatles. Teru said that he liked the Beatles too, so they started to talk about The Beatles. However, that time Teru wasn't interested in music, so he wasn't inspired.

In high school, Teru fell in love with soccer. He joined the soccer team. In the football match, when all the team members were already got very exhausted, Teru was the one who still had bunches of power to fight. He never gave up. ( This is why I like him a lot ^^... Teru always fight to the end .. he keeps fight until he has no more energy..)

Teru didn't interested in music when he was in high school. Until one day, he was invited by a friend in the soccer team to play copies of  Seikimasu's songs. They were supposed to do it for a culture festival but it turned out to be within the soccer team. Teru wasn't interested in music but he wanted to do something, so he told them that he could not play but he wanted to. (Teru always wants to do something new ne...) Teru said that the reason why he started playing music was because he wanted to be popular.

In the beginning, he didn't even know what a drum was and he had never heard the sound of it. The first time he played drums, he used the chair( Teru drummed on the chair). He didn't have sticks, so, a week before he had to play the drums, he went to buy the drumsticks so that he could practice on the chair. Teru didn't know how to choose good drumsticks, so he just picked by color and he chose the black one.    ( Teru:" because it looked cool." ). He paid 1200~300 Yen for that.

Teru played the drums for the first time in Yamaha Studio in Hakodate.( Teru:" I remember that very well. It made a clear sound when I first hit the drums and from that moment, I became crazy about drums and music." )

After the festival was over, Teru started looking for members for his own band. He started listening to music in his daily life. Since he wanted to make a band, he tried to talk to people. Whenever he heard that somebody was playing in a band, he went up to him to talk.

Teru enjoyed making the sound of the drums very much. He wanted his own drums so badly so he asked his friends whether they could sell a used drum set cheap. Teru didn't have money so he started a part-time job, even though it was prohibited in school. First, he worked in a fast food restaurant. When he was a 1st grade high school student, he got his own drums and brought it home.

After Teru knew music and played the drums, his life changed. He forgot about soccer.  Teru practiced (his drums) for six hours every day after coming back from school. Actually he wanted to play soccer  but he didn't have time for that. When Teru started to play in a band, his parents were kind of gave up on him. Teru didn't listen to his parents at all and he made them struggled. (Teru:" But because of that, I am what I am now )

When Glay came to him, he quitted soccer. It was Takuro who had invited him to join. (Teru:" He (Takuro) just made a phone call and said ,' Long time no see!!' "). Takuro said to Teru that he needed a drummer for his band. He asked Teru to join his band and because Teru thought that he could play so he just simply said YES.( ^v^ Another reason why I like Teru so much. He is full of confidence).

One day, Takuro came to Teru, said that he had made a song and he asked Teru to write the lyrics for it. Teru didn't know what to do because he never did that before nor interested in writing it. He tried to write it out but everybody laughed at what he had written. He lost his confidence and... could not recover for a long time.

That time, Glay had no vocalist, so they just played music, with no vocal. One day, Teru recorded his voice into the tape and gave it to Takuro. After Takuro listened to it, he said to Teru that Teru could be a better singer. When he was told that he would become the vocalist, Teru was very embarrassed. He was shy^^,but he was also happy to find his new talent. After Teru became the new vocalist, they found a new drummer, Junichi Nakamoto, who was an old junior high school friend.

The four members of Glay started to practice seriously. They played in Teru's room. That time, Teru, who had become the vocalist, couldn't sing loudly because it was too embarrassing for him. (Teru: " I could play drums for 4 or 5 hours but I couldn't sing as much ). After everybody left his house, Teru didn't practice singing. Instead of that, he practice the drums. He said that he didn't get any satisfaction from singing.

In the beginning of second year in high school, Hisashi joined Glay. Takuro brought a picture of  Hisashi, and when Teru saw it, he thought that Hisashi was very very cute. When he met Hisashi in the studio for the first time, Teru didn't feel comfortable talking to Hisashi. Both of them were not outgoing. They were playing in the same band but they were keeping distance between each other.

In 1990, Teru's sister was married. Glay wrote a song for her and Teru sang it during the wedding ceremony. The song was "Zutto Futari de...". Teru's sister cried.

After highschool graduation, Teru went to Tokyo. ..................
