Long Trail Ale is the flagship beer made by the Long Trail Brewing Company, a microbrewery located in Bridgewater Corners. It is named after the Long Trail, a 272 mile hiking trail that runs the length of Vermont. You can visit the brewery for a taste, but to find this box you must hike on the Long Trail near Sherburne Pass. After finding the box, be sure to visit the Inn At Long Trail, site of the first Letterboxing Gathering back in 1999.

Directions:

From Killington, go west on Route 4 about 2.5 miles to just past Sherburne Pass. Turn left into the parking area for the Appalachian/Long Trail and park.

Clues:

Follow the trail north from the parking lot for about 100 yards as it parallels Route 4. At the trail jct go left into the woods and cross a bridge. Just on the other side go left (south) on the Appalachian/Long Trail for 40 steps from the sign. Turn right and walk 5 steps off trail to a double-trunk tree. The letterbox is on the back side under sticks and leaves. Please replace as described.
