The movie Glory Road was inspired by the true story of Texas Western's Coach Don Haskins, who led the first all-black starting lineup team to the 1966 NCAA national basketball championship title against an all-white Kentucky team. In a turbulent time of social and political change, their unlikely success sends shock waves through the sport and changes it forever. Several scenes in this movie were filmed at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), which was formerly Texas Western College, and the Don Haskins Center is located on a street called Glory Road. This minibox is located nearby at Arroyo Park, a slice of the Chihuahuan Desert located at the foot of the Franklin Mountains.

Directions:

From I10, take the downtown exit onto Mesa and go north about 1 mile to Robinson. Take Robinson east about .5 mile and stay right onto Virginia, go downhill to the El Paso Tennis Club in Arroyo Park and park by the trail head at the end of the tennis court fence on the left side.

Clues:

Go north on the dirt path with tennis courts on your right for about 100 yards to a Y jct. Bear right for another 100 yards, curving around the back side of the tennis courts to the end of the fence with a gas meter in front. Look left and a little forward (80 degrees) for several bushes in a row off trail. Walk 17 steps to the furthest one and find the camo minibox at its base under rocks. Please re-cover well.
