Choke Canyon State Park, consisting of two units, South Shore and Calliham, is located on 26,000-acre Choke Canyon Reservoir, which has been recognized as a place of special importance for birds and bird watchers. Large numbers and varieties of birds are attracted to the water and to the adjacent upland habitats. Also, many typically Mexican species of birds approach the northern limits of their range here, including the Crested Caracara (Mexican Eagle). Choke Canyon is part of the Brush County Loop described on the Central Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail map. The entrance fee is $3.00 for adults and is open 7 days a week year-round, so come enjoy the park while looking for this microbox.

Directions:

From San Antonio, go south, or from Corpus Christi go north on I37 and then west on Hwy 72. Calliham Unit of Choke Canyon is located 12 miles west of Three Rivers just north of Hwy 72. Pay fee, get map and drive to the Bird Trail at the Trailer Dump Station near turnoff for 75-acre Lake.

Clues:

From beginning of trail under the arch, walk about 200 yards to a stone bench on the left at a wide clearing. Behind the bench and a little to the left are 2 multi-trunk trees . Behind them is a wooden pole with 4 holes in it laying on the ground. The camo microbox is within the hole farthest away. Please rehide well.
