Krause Springs is possibly the most beautiful swimming hole in Texas. Situated on a bluff overlooking Cypress Creek there is a spring-fed swimming pool, and below that is the creek, lined with towering cypress trees and a waterfall coming over a cliff covered with ferns. It is owned by the Krauses and is open from 9:00 till dusk. There is an admission to swim, but not to find this box. What better way to spend the summer than swimming in a spring.

Directions:

Take Hwy 71 west from Austin, cross the Pedernales River, drive 7 miles, turn right on Spur 191 at the Exxon Station, right on County Road 404 and go .3 miles, then turn left on Krause Springs Road and park on left shoulder before entrance gate to Krause Springs.

Clues:

Walk to the tree at the corner where you turned in and go right (north) 10 steps into the trees to a barbed wire fence. Go left about 3 steps to a large tree supporting the barbed wire. The minibox is hanging about 4 feet high in a small tree in front of this large tree. The box is a pill container and is permanently attached to the tree, so remove the top by pushing down while turning counter-clockwise. When replacing the top, make sure to screw it on all the way and check to make sure it doesn't come off if you lift up on it. Please be discreet as people could be coming and going to the Springs, which I highly recommend after stamping in.
