Ryan Express 2 Microbox

Alvin Depot

Placed By: Silver Eagle

Nearest Town: Alvin, TX
County: Brazoria
Terrain Difficulty: Easy (flat, 400 yards RT)
Status: alive (04/08/09)

When my first Ryan Express letterbox was reported missing, I created this box to take it's place, but with a different stamp. However, I found the original box alive and well, so decided to hide this one in a different place. I figured an appropriate place for an "express" would be near railroad tracks, and the Tom Blakeney Hike & Bike Trail near the Alvin Depot fit the bill. So now you have 2 reasons to come to Alvin and pay homage to Nolan Ryan.

Directions:

From Houston, go south on TX 35 to Hwy 6 in Alvin, then west on TX 6 for about 1 mile to BUS 35. Go south on BUS 35 for .3 mile to East Willis just across the railroad tracks. Turn left and park by the Alvin Depot near the Tom Blakeney Hike & Bike Trail.

Clues:

Head east on the trail for about 200 yards, crossing a bridge over Mustang Bayou. On the far side, turn right and follow the outside of the bridge back toward the bayou for 25 steps to the last concrete support. Duck under the bridge and go past the second metal beam. The microbox is resting on the second metal beam above the concrete support, hiding behind a rock. Please replace as described and be discreet.

NOTE: Always take adequate precautions (such as prodding with a stick and/or wearing gloves) before reaching into dark crevasses and holes in the wild. Before you set out read the waiver of responsibility and disclaimer.
