SPECIAL THANKS TO DEBORAH FOR HELP PLACING THIS BOX!

The Palo Duro Mouse 2 microbox is located in Palo Duro State Park, the "Grand Canyon Of Texas". The canyon is approximately 120 miles long, 20 miles wide, and 800 feet deep. Early Spanish Explorers are believed to have discovered the area and dubbed the canyon "Palo Duro", which is Spanish for "hard wood", in reference to the abundant mesquite and juniper trees. Due to diverse habitats, Palo Duro Canyon contains many species of wildlife, including the rare Texas Horned Lizard and Palo Duro Mouse, which is found in only three counties in the world, all in Texas. Camping is available and activities include hiking, horseback riding and the Texas Musical Drama, which is a presentation of Texas culture in the beautiful outdoor Pioneer Amphitheater. Entry fee for the park is $4.00 per adult and tickets for the Texas Drama are extra. This box contains a different stamp than the original Palo Duro Mouse that went missing, so consider it a new letterbox.

Directions:

The park is located east of Canyon on State Highway 217. From Amarillo, take I27 south to State Highway 217, then go east 8 miles.

Clues:

Park at the Lighthouse trail and walk for about .75 mile to a bench on the left. If you come to a green stake saying "2 miles to Lighthouse" you have gone too far. From the bench, walk to the left (south) on a small side path for 15 steps. Look to the right (west) for a juniper bush about 5 steps from the trail. In the crotch of the bush at its base under some rocks is the box. Please re-cover well. Now continue on the main trail for a view of the Lighthouse.

NOTE: Always take adequate precautions (such as prodding with a stick and/or wearing gloves) before reaching into dark crevasses and holes in the wild. Before you set out read the waiver of responsibility and disclaimer.
