The term outhouse usually refers to a type of toilet in a small structure separate from the main building which does not have a flush and is not attached to a sewer. Port-A-Potties are more prevalent today, but some of the old-style outhouses with a half-moon window can still be found out in the country. In fact, I have used the highest outhouse in the continental United States, which sat atop Mount Whitney until 2007. There is no old-style outhouse in Jackson Nature Park, where this box is placed, but there might have been years ago. At least my box should smell better.

Directions:

From Hwy 87 in Stockdale, go west on CR 401 for about 3 miles to Jackson Nature Park on the left. Park by the trailhead.

Clues:

Walk the Entry Trail to Jimmy's Loop and take a right. Continue to Carlton's Loop and take a right. Walk until you come to a bench, then continue anther 50 steps to a large group of cactus on the left. Go left around the cactus 9 steps off trail to a large multi-trunk tree. The microbox is within the trunks under some rocks.

NOTE: Always take adequate precautions (such as prodding with a stick and/or wearing gloves) before reaching into dark crevasses and holes in the wild. Before you set out read the waiver of responsibility and disclaimer.
