In 1971, Dr. Seuss wrote "The Lorax", a cautionary tale of greed and environmental destruction featuring the lovable Lorax. Since he loves trees, he can be found in this microbox at Lake Whitney State Park, a park loaded with trees. The main activities are camping, hiking, fishing, swimming and wildlife observation. So bring a Truffula seed and pay your respects to the Lorax soon.

Directions:

Lake Whitney State Park is located 3 miles west of Whitney. To reach the park from Interstate 35, take the Hillsboro exit and go west on Hwy 22 to Hillsboro. Continue on Hwy 22 west to Whitney, then right on FM 933 and left on FM 1244 to the park. After paying at the entrance station and getting a map, drive to the trailhead nearest the recreation hall and park.

Clues:

Start walking on the trail and turn left almost immediately at the first jct. Walk about 50 yards to trail marker #13 on the left side of the trail. Beyond the marker to the southeast is a grove of trees about 12 steps off the trail. The microbox is behind the first large tree at its base under a rock and dirt. Please re-cover well.
