Jesse James was quite the scourge of the Mid-West, but I never thought he made it down to TX until I listened to a couple of old-timers discussing the "good old days". They claimed that Jesse once came to a place north of Houston that is now a park sharing his first name. As usual he was running from the law, so he decided to hide out at the Homestead of his bud Red on a hill near an Indian Village until the coast was clear. Since Jesse had quite a bit of loot with him, he decided to hide it nearby in case he had to make a quick getaway, which is what happened. According to legend, he never came back for the loot and it is still waiting for someone to find it. The only clues come from some observations made by Red. He admitted to authorities that Jesse slept in the barn and probably hid the loot nearby. He claimed he once saw Jesse walk north from the green tractor in the north stall of the barn about 15 steps to a downed tree just barely in the woods, but did not think much about it until he saw Jesse bend down next to the tree and move some pieces of wood. Red said he never found the loot, but it's possible it was also hidden under some bark and leaves. If you are lucky enough to find it, please record your visit but leave the loot for the next person to enjoy. Also, please rehide well so the Ghost of Jesse James doesn't haunt you!
NOTE: Always take adequate precautions (such as prodding with a stick and/or wearing gloves) before reaching into dark crevasses and holes in the wild. Before you set out read the waiver of responsibility and disclaimer.
