In 1957, Dr. Seuss wrote "How The Grinch Stole Christmas", and in the 1960's, a classic cartoon was created based on this book. To this day it is my favorite Christmas show and this microbox is my dedication to the old "Grinchy-Claus". Though there is no Mt. Crumpet in Meridian State Park, this Grinch has been spotted there recently. The park has a 72-acre lake offering fishing and swimming, along with a hiking trail encircling it featuring limestone outcroppings with fossils and a scenic overlook. So bring your 39 1/2 foot pole and come touch the Grinch.

Directions:

The park is located about 3 miles southwest of Meridian off State Highway 22. Take Hwy 174 from Cleburne, Hwy 144 from Glen Rose or Hwy 6 from Waco, then west on Hwy 22 and proceed to the park entrance. Go on the one-way road past the boat launch area until you reach the pullout for the Bee Ledge Scenic Overlook. Park here.

Clues:

Walk to the overlook and enjoy the view, then look for a rock with the inscription Jim + Dona. From this point walk north for 75 steps on a trail skirting the ledge to the right as you face the lake. You should now be at a point where the trail starts to drop down to the left and there should be a small cedar tree at the base of a rock wall on your right. The microbox is behind the cedar tree, under a ledge in the rock wall, hidden behind some rocks. Please re-cover well.

NOTE: Always take adequate precautions (such as prodding with a stick and/or wearing gloves) before reaching into dark crevasses and holes in the wild. Before you set out read the waiver of responsibility and disclaimer.
