A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court is an 1889 novel by Mark Twain and is recognized as one of the first time-travel stories ever written. The novel tells the tale of Hank Morgan, a 19th century citizen of Hartford, Connecticut who awakens to find himself inexplicably transported back in time to early medieval England at the time of the legendary King Arthur in AD 528. You can find this box dedicated to the protagonist at the White Memorial Foundation and Conservation Center. It comprises 4000 acres of fields, water, woodlands, trails, campgrounds, boating facilities, nature museum and environmental education center. This box has official permission from the White Memorial Foundation and complies with their rules.

Directions:

From Litchfield, go 2.5 miles west on Route 202 and turn left on Bissell Road, then immediate right on Whitehall Road into White Memorial Foundation. Park at the museum.

Clues:

From parking lot head south to Ongley Pond and find the Orange trail on the right side of the lake. You will be going counter-clockwise around the pond for less than 100 yards before coming to a trail fork right after crossing the second boardwalk. This is the Windmill Hill trail with green marks, and you will turn right to go on it, crossing another boardwalk after just a few steps. From the far side of that boardwalk, continue another 80 steps to a large tree laying on the left side of the trail. Continue another 160 steps from the end of the tree. Look right at a stone wall about 6 steps off trail until you are "stumped". The camo letterbox is between wall and stump under rocks. Please replace as described.

NOTE: Always take adequate precautions (such as prodding with a stick and/or wearing gloves) before reaching into dark crevasses and holes in the wild. Before you set out read the waiver of responsibility and disclaimer.
