Belize, previously known as British Honduras, lies on the East coast of Central America in the heart of the Caribbean Basin, bordering on Mexico to the North, Guatemala to the West and South, and flanked by the Caribbean Sea to the East. Belize is well publicized for possessing the second longest barrier reef in the world, as well as three major offshore atolls. The cayes and atolls provide superior opportunity for SCUBA diving, snorkeling, fishing, boating, sailing, sailboarding, and sea kayaking, as well as habitat for both nesting birds and turtles. One of the best places to enjoy these activities is Victoria House hotel on Ambergris Caye, where this microbox is located. It is a resort that offers all the services of a luxury hotel without the formalities, and is home to the Palmilla Restaurant, one of the best in Belize. It is also a great place to just relax and enjoy the breeze.

Directions:

From the town of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, head south on Coconut Drive for about 2 miles to Victoria House Hotel. If you are staying at another hotel, take a taxi at night and come to the restaurant (bring a small flashlight to help find the microbox), or walk along the beach during the day since all beaches are public.

Clues:

From the restaurant, walk east to the end of the pool and go down the steps on the right side to the beach. Turn right (south) and walk 35 steps, following the curve of the pool deck, then paralleling the lawn. You will come to a medium palm tree under a tall coconut palm where the beach meets the lawn. There are many other palm trees on the beach, but this should be the first medium one you come to nearest the lawn. The microbox is in the palm tree on the grass-side (west) between the trunk and a frond about 2 feet above the ground. It is under some brown palm skin and a very small coconut. Please re-cover well so it is not found by groundskeepers.
