Mr. Hahn

This is an interview from Victoria with Joe, Phoenix, and Mike

Victoria: Alrite, welcome back to Week in Rock...and guys, this is absolutely the more classical show because finally we've made it, we are with the guests after last week we're with Bjork...we're now with...LINKIN PARK. Part of them, because the others will come later...Guys, its great to meet you, and I just like to say I wanted to introduce myself as 'Diarrhea Spice" because basically... okay we were saying since this room is air conditioned, and I said "Guys...now I'll finally end up with diarrhea..." Then he *points to Phoenix* kindly offered, pratically...I'm saying that you offerewd to get diarrhea for me, instead bascially...

Phoenix: Yeah, thats rite. I already have diarrhea even in states (?).

Victoria: Okay, its cool...

Phoenix: Everything is going to be fine!

Victoria: Okay. Alrite guys, its great to have you in Italy.

Mike: Grazie (thank you), its gonna take me a second to get over that (all laughs)

Victoria: Get back to my thought 'Diarrhea Spce'!!

Mike: Its the same thing....the same thing

Joe: When you're starting into burst and you feel something burst...and what ya get?

Victoria: Diarrhea!!!

(Break for news)

Joe: Alrite...

Victoria: Now, can I ask you? Can you explain to us...how do you first get together? How did Linkin Park first get together?

Joe: Mike knew Brad, our guitarist in jr high, they've made some music before and Brad was in a band with Rob in high school, that wasn't the band that we're in. The Rob's our drummer and Brad was also thier roommate, I mean the Phoenix's roommate...in college...their roommates...I met Mike at art center. We studied paintings and stuff like that together, and one day we all got together adn we're like...'Hey! Make Music!'

(Victoria with Chester, Rob and Brad)

Victoria: The most important thing to you are the fans...

Chester: Yes...

Victoria: The people that are out there. And now, because its..ou know? First album and all that...and everything's going really extremely well. Do you think you'd still be on the same opinion, say in 4 albums time?

Brad: Well, our thing about our fans is that, like, radio in the US, you know they're good for us, and even MTV and what not? But those things can come and go, what we really wanted to do with this record was build a foundation...a fan base that has a really strong foundation, adn that's the kinda thing that we could all link about by playing live shows, by developing our street teams, talking to kids first thing all in one. Those are the kinda relationships that we will sustain throughout our career. So I think that even in the future, if the radio stops playing our stuff, we could still have a very strong ground self(?)support.

(Victoria with Joe, Phoenix and Mike)

Victoria: Does the fact that, maybe some people to find you as 'the next best thing' pretty shocked? Because okay, I read something that you said in an interview, which is, that basically "its taken Lp five years to become an overnight success..."So you've actually really worked hard, but its not like...you know? Just happen like that *snaps*

Mike: Well I mean, if somebody's excited about it, then that's great! Like...we're...you know? We wanted to make people excited about the music, but as far as...I dunno what next best thing? That's people hyping like, but it seems like there's a lot of excensationalist type of attitude? Because on and in the end...you know? Skip all that...thats just like, its really like we wanne...

Joe: But I think the only thing is like umm...people think that, you know, we've been handed this adn we point(?) not a lot of people know that we've been working really hard for it...

Victoria: They've worked hard for it! You surely have, definitely!

Phoenix: You dont even know...

Victoria: Why are you saying no?

Phoenix: Just kidding!

(break for news)

Victoria: Omg, I'm really excited to see the show tonight!

Mike: Are you going to come?

Victoria: Of course I'm gonna come, definiely!

Mike: Thats what everyone says...

Victoria: You've got...you...Bet? (offers hand to Joe)

Joe: Is that a hard to kick? (shakes her hand)

Phoenix: You gotta spit!

Victoria: Yep! (spits on her hand) Okay...(Phoenix spits on his hands adn then they shook. Everyone goes "Eww.." and Mike laughs) I'll see you there then...

Phoenix: Thank you

Victoria: (about to rub her hand on Mike's shirt) No I wont do that...

Mike: Rub it on the mike...(laughs)

Victoria: No thank you very much Mike, with the other hand (places her spitted hand on Mike's shoulder) and it was a great pleasure!

(Break, then comes back with all the members)

Victoria: Okay...here we are with all the Linkin Park members all together and its fantastic...Okay guys, I know unfortunately this is not a very nice question. I know you all want to avoid this, so you can press play directly...I think you know what I'm going to be talking about now but SHE!! (points to one of the crew behind the camera) said I had to ask you. So, can you tell me about what this nu-metal and all, you know? All this crap and if you feel part of that scene, or if you font? And who wants to anser this? (Brad points to Joe)

Joe: We...all live in a yellow submarine (all starts singing while the camera crews are clapping) yellow submarine, yellow submarine...We are a...not nu-metal, umm...ut we are. I dont know what nu metal is?!

Victoria: Exactly! who can explain to me what nu metal is?

Chester: No one.

Rob: Nobody could explain to us.

Chester: Yeah, nobody I know, actually knows what nu metal is. Because everybody from Metallica from Limp Bizkit, to us, to Tool, to Sepultura is involved in the nu metal scene. So, its kind of...its really vague. Your better off saying rock n roll!

(Break for news)

Victoria: Excited for tonight?

Chester: (whispers) Yes...

Mike: No not at all!

Rob: Yes

Phoenix: Yes

Brad: Well, the show should a...should be very energetic. And umm...we've been experiencing a lot of great crowds, participation, umm...its a lot of fun for us to be performing and I think it's also a lot of fun for the people for us showing up. So its a big party!

Joe: We've been waiting all year to come to Milan and play this show.

Phoenix: See? Normally we give the intelligent answers and Joe just kicks off but he was actually FORCED to answer the question that time.

Victoria: okay..cool...

(Break for news)

Victoria: Okay is it true that you've already been writing new stuff like that? Is that right?

Brad: Yes

Joe: Its really the next wave of nu metal. (Mike bursts out laughing)

Victoria: Okay...

Brad: Oh I can...I can give a serious answer though! Even though we're just starting to put ideas now for our next record, we did just finish our DVD. Which we've spent months workin on adn Joe Hahn was kinda still directing that. And that's why we decided that we were gonna put that out on Chrismas time, and its everything that you want! Its all our videos, live footage of us playing, the backstage footage, of us being as not entertaining as we are right now. Umm...and pretty much making some hazards so...

(Break for news)

Victoria: Do you want to say someting, my darling? (points mic to Joe)

Joe: The moment has passed, I'm moving on, so are you...(Chester bursts out laughing)

Victoria: Okay, thank you very much for the interview. Guys have a great show tonight! We're gonna be watching adn really excited to see you guys so...

Chester: Well we're excited right now too.

Victoria: Cool! Okay, we're all excited! Thank you very mcuh, this is all from Week in Rock...

Mike: Grazie..

Victoria: I'll leave you now, grazie...ciao, ciao, ciao (blows kisses to each one of them adn kisses Chester on his cheeks) CIAO!

Joe: What was that for?!?

(Show ends up with everyone laughing)
