AMSTERDAM-
The DVD from the first Lord of the Rings has the first sales-day broken all the records. Thursday 200.000 DVD left with their new owners.
�The Lord of the Rings, the Fellowship of the Ring.� is the official name of the movie and DVD, it was definitely number one, leaving �Harry Potter and the Philosopher�s stone� (Yeah! Go LOTR!)and �Titanic.� Far behind. In some stores the DVD was already sold out and people were steeling the thing from each other�s carts.
Holland is not the only country where the DVD led to this kind of things. In Great-Britain even more left the stores. Over 1.3 million copies were sold.
�The Fellowship of the Ring.� Is the first of three movies, the book s were written by J.R.R. Tolkien, and tells of a company led by the wizard Gandalf and the Ringbearer Frodo. (played by Ian Mckellen and Elijah Wood.) That company has to destroy a dangerous ring, made by the evil lord Sauron who with this ring could dominate whole Middle-Earth.
The company has 4 Hobbits, 2 men, 1 dwarf, 1 elf and 1 wizard, making it �The Nine.�
The main parts are played by Elijah Wood, Ian Mckellen, Viggo Mortensen, Sean Bean (huh, main part???) and Cate Blanchett. The movie was rewarded with 4 Oscars and with 13 nominations.
In Holland visited almost 2 million people the movie in the cinema�s, also a record, and even more people are waiting with anticipation for the next one.
That next one is called �The Two Towers� and goes in premiere on 18 December world-wide.
