LEGOLAS GREENLEAF
Legolas is the son of Thranduil who is the king of Mirkwood. This makes Legolas prince of Mirkwood
and also heir to the throne.  Legolas is Sindarin but also a wood elf. That's because his father was a Sindarin elf from Lothlrien. They both speak Sindarin, which is one of the two mayor elvish languages. Sindarin is the language of the High-elves but also from the Teleri, 'The elves who can sing'. (for more information about the Teleri, read the Silmarillion.)

Legolas is very skilled with the bow, just like all the elves of Mirkwood. Legolas is somtimes called, The Lord of the Archer, a name that fits him well. There is no better archer than prince Legolas and that was one reason for his presence in the Fellowship.
Elves from Mirkwood are very good with animals and nature, because Mirkwood is the largest forest in Middle-Earth. It used to be a beautiful forest until Sauron placed his fortress there. Now it's dark and scary, with monsters like big spiders. (See: The Hobbit.)
People say that once the Dark Lord if defeated that the beauty of Mirkwood would return. It actually did but never again was it as beautiful as it once was.

Tolkien didn't say much about Legolas' mother but she is said to be so beautiful that Thranduil never remarried.

Legolas is like all elves wise, he is approximatley 2931 years old. (at least that's his age in the movies.)
He doesn't leave any trace, not even one snow. He has very keen hearing and his eye sight is even better.
('You have the keen sight of your fair kindred Legolas'. :Gandalf.)
This makes him a vital part of the Fellowship.

Except for his keen eyes he also has the handsome appearance of the elves. No one won't admit that Legolas is handsome. He has long blond hair and blue eyes, although the colour of his hair can be debated. Tolkien never said what the colour was of his hair. (In the movie it's blond.)
he has beautiful blue eyes that look like the colour of the sea. He has a fair face and slender fingers and very cute pointy ears.

Legolas is never married, but he has never exsperiences love. But he has exsperienced friendship. His friendship with Gimli the Dwarf was known throughout Middle-Earth. That friendship lasted until they (Gimli and Legolas), as the last of the Fellowship, left to Valinor.
