Welcome to Silas' homepage! My name is Chris. My wife Debra & I are the proud owners of Silas vom Weissen Schwan. We imported Silas in June of 1999 at a little over 3 yrs old. After 1 week in our home he & I became bonded as though I have had him since a pup. His temperament and demeanor is classic Rottweiler. He is friendly, but wary of strangers; aloof, but well aware of his surroundings; calm and easygoing, but ready to defend his family in a moments notice. Whether on the Schutzhund field or our own backyard, Silas is an awesome site to behold. Powerful, athletic, confident and sometimes comical, he is an excellent companion & guardian and in my opinion offers a lot to the breed with what he produces in the many litters he has sired. "Is he the perfect Rottweiler?" you may ask. No, in my opinion there is no perfect animal, at least I haven't found one yet, but Silas has many desirable qualities, skills and attributes one would look for if you could build the perfect Rottweiler. I don't claim to be a Rottweiler or Schutzhund afficionado, I have been involved with the breed for less than 5 years & there are already too many people out there who claim to be knowledgeable about things they really aren't. I can tell you, I've done my homework & research on the breed, spoken with those who are truly involved; many with over 30 years experience and they are the ones who confirm my statements about Silas, as well as the information below. You can judge for yourself . Please browse this website and view pictures of him working and playing and let his documents and critiques speak for themselves. Especially look at his USRC Breed Suitability Test (BST) results and you'll see what I mean. The BST was designed to bring together the elements of breed standard conformation & potential work ability in the archetypal specimen of a Rottweiler. A judge, in Germany, a Kormeister/Richter is the one who scores the dog on his/her general behavior, desire to please, ability to calm down, excitability and tractability. The judge also notes the Head, Cheek, Bone Strength, and whether he/she reacts to gunfire and its demeanor in a crowd and threatening situation. Every dimension of the dog's physical size is measured and compared to the standard. It is an excellent test encompassing the most desirable traits and characteristics one would look for in a Rottweiler. In Germany's ADRK, The Allgemeiner Deutscher Rottweiler Klub (German General Rottweiler Club) and many affiliates in the US, like the USRC and ARV a Rottweiler can not be bred if it hasn't pased this test. Well, now that you know a little bit about Silas, myself and Rottweilers in general please look around, sign my guest book and feel free to contact me by email if you have any questions regarding Silas.
