I decided to start writing on this subject so you can see my view. My intention is not to convert you but to only let you see my side of belief and why I believe. You can just as easily reject it as you could delete this file before even considering to read it. My first point is that I am not a great advocate of science. Time itself in my view is seen to be a manmade thing, and I believe science itself to be manmade and very fallible. To prove my reason for believing by science is not my choice reasoning nor do I consider it to be the only way to reason. So, how can I honestly define my faith by science? You can't. Since science is a manmade thing by my thinking, then man can either sway science in favor or in disfavor of what they think of the bible and Christianity. There are plenty of books that either prove the bible to be inerrant or prove it to be undependable. To truly understand the bible, I believe one has to believe in Christianity because the bible is not a textbook on science but a textbook on the faith of Christianity. To truly understand Christianity itself, if you want to know how we believe, is to begin with the New Testament since it is more relevant to our beliefs then read the Old Testament to see how it was fulfilled. I believe the bible to be God-inspired. The authors of the 66 books of it (which I believe to be the complete canon) were inspired by God to write, and they wrote as they knew how, not as we would have described it. They wrote and spoke with their idioms and with their level of education in their times. However, I find the bible to be even relevant now. It is important to me to research and to know what they were thinking in that time when they wrote it to understand how they meant it. I can't just show you a verse without showing you the context of it, or it could be easily misinterpreted. Without background, there is much that can be misused. The background or the bible's context can be set in history, but again, history is part of science and a manmade thing. So, my faith in the bible is not based on science or history although due to my current culture I find it extremely important. My faith in the bible is based in my faith in God and in what the bible says about itself. I even believe God intended it to be supernaturally preserved throughout the generations. Many pieces of scripture are my proof that the bible was meant to be preserved, and if that was God's intention to preserve it, then I know we have the complete canon. Of course, man hasn't been so tedious in locating every bit of evidence of every book of the bible nor considered every location of where it was so it is unfair to define the bible's existence by the location of its books. Many other nations and other places that had record of its books, not just the historical countries that had a trend of Christianity were not recognized or considered. We don't know truly how widespread the bible was orally or at the time it was written, or how far it could have gotten or how well it was preserved. Was I there then when it was written? No. Was I there in the beginning of creation? No. But, my answers rely on the bible, and I trust that the intention of its preservation was indeed fulfilled. As for science, I know I can't depend on it to define my faith, but I can use it to my benefit to survive because of my culture. But again, I see that it can be used in disfavor of my beliefs. We don't know all the answers, not in science, not in life. My textbook for life and purpose is the bible, and it is not meant to explain science but to explain our existence. We were made to be reasonable beings, and of course, we could create innovations of life through science because we were given the capacity. I believe God knew this. But, we were also warned of many things. Colossians 2:8 "See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ." A clear warning. More warning in 1 Corinthians 1:18-2:15. I'm not going to throw a hundred verses at you, but I hope you would be willing to read what I have to say. I hope to interest you into researching yourself because sometimes I don't have the best answers. I'll just continue to try to answer you though about my faith. However, I'm not doing this because I hope to convert you but to let you know why I believe.
