Flood Lights
The door has been left open and wind pulls in more rain
The silence is over and there is more to explain
Shadows gather by the light of the moon
The night has just begun but over too soon
You feel yourself getting more confused
There has to be help somewhere, so much to lose
But as you feel and hear the world is drifting
You don't want to be there through its lifting
The change has already occurred in events abound
What will become of you, if you are still around
The world becomes darker than you have ever seen
You feel yourself covered in and sinking if it was not for a beam
Your eyes are locked you try to go toward
But the harder you push you aren't going forward
You gather strength but not done in ease
You lose most of your energy and aching begins in your knees
You swim and swim but you see everything familiar drown in sight
The more you look back the more you feel you are doing what is right
But you feel a force pushing against you
The resistance is greater than you expected it to
Though you try to grab onto something solid and strong
What you try to hold onto is not and you can't stay on
Then when you feel your strength and endurance has quit
You give in and think this is it
Then you feel something grab you and pull you up higher
The light is now on you as it continues to burn like fire
The light has not been extinguished by the flood
It shines clean and clear without dimming from mud
The force carries you in onto a safe solid place
You begin to rest and say "thank you" to the face
The next thing you know, it is a brand new day
And you too, feel brand new, because your sins have been washed away
