(07.27.02) Website UpdateI hope everyone is having a fun, safe, and happy summer. This is just a notice to let you know about several change in the website. First, the site has changed its URL to http://www.geocities.com/sijsa, but it is still accessible by http://sijsa.go.to. Second, any information from the 2001-2 school year has been moved into an archive section for posterity and to make way for new information. And last, but not least, I have now officially retired from the position of SIJSA webmaster. It has been an honor to serve this position for two years, and my chapter for four. At the present time, my successor is TBD. I wish the best of luck to the SISJA of 2002-3 and future ones as well!
Mission Statement On high school campuses across the country, there are students concerned about what is happening around them--students who are interested in politics and government, foreign affairs, the law, the media, and education. The Junior Statesmen of America is designed for these students. The JSA is a national organization founded in 1934. The purpose of this organization is to teach students about government, to help develop and polish leadership skills in youth, to encourage critical thinking, to transmit the knowledge necessary for active informed citizenship, and provide a fun and educational environment to debate and promote the free flow of ideas. The St. Ignatius Junior State Chapter conducts monthly student debates, thought talks, mock trials, as well as attend state conventions, regional conventions, PEC's (Presidential Electing Convention), and various activities throughout the year. Listen to the announcements for the next debate night. Come, bring a friend, and see what all the excitement is about--Join JSA! Last Updated Saturday, July 27, 2002.
