Scorpio is one of the most complex signs
of the zodiac. Life, death, and resurrection are inextricably linked in
Scorpio. Scorpio is a Water element, and this makes it a somewhat
enigmatic sign. Water is more receptive and introverted, but Scorpio is
a Plutonian-power force. Perhaps that is why Scorpio is the sign capable
of the greatest metamorphosis and renewal.
The Sign
Powerful, instinctual Scorpios
sting and destroy, but as their natures evolve, they also rebuild and
create. It is significant that this sign has not one symbol, but three:
the Scorpion, the Eagle, and the Phoenix. Aggression and instinct
dominate the Scorpion guise: the deadly arachnid is destructive,
viciously competitive, violent and cruel. The essence of the Eagle on
the other hand, is the shrewd insight most Scorpios possess. Phoenix was
a mythical bird which was reborn from its own ashes, more powerful and
beautiful than ever before. Emotionally Scorpios may perish in the ashes
of their own destructive nature. But they can also transcend and
transform; they can bring forth from the ashes new and shining life.
Positive Sides
Scorpios are greatly mysterious, sensual and has a charm attached to
themselves that is hard to ignore. They have great courage and strength
of skill as well as an urge to trample traditions. They like to
construct something new and different. Scorpios are known for their
intensity and personal magnetism. Members of this sign have tremendous
inner strength, which when properly developed, gives them great power to
turn negative situations into positive outcomes, and to rechannel
destructive energy into constructive purposes. They are inspiring and
dynamic as well as persuasive.
Negative Sides
Profound perceptions and violent urges characterize Scorpios. They often
get bitter and depressed. They tend toward fiery, ephemeral passions and
are prone to fierce jealousy and possessiveness. They discern hidden
motives; they ferret out secret flaws and vulnerabilities. And they are
not above exploiting others' weaknesses to their own advantage.
The Rulers
Mars - God of War and Pluto - God of Death. This planetary combo makes
for people who are motivated, penetrating and aware.
Compatible With
Pisces and Cancer.
Friendship
Fierce passion often ends up in creating havoc on others. They are not
well suited to marriage, which, over time, they will find tiresome. In
friendship, as in romance, Scorpios sometimes do not know their own
power. They may sting others without meaning to, and then turn their
venom on themselves in remorse. They may incite more fear than
affection, and they tend to have a few intense relationships, rather
than a large circle of casual friends.
